Kindred Ground Holdings LLC · Maryland
A homeplace,
not a holding.
Kindred Ground Holdings is a for-profit property company formed to acquire and steward the everyday commercial buildings that keep a main street whole — storefronts, small blocks, working corridors — and to hold them well, for the long term, in Montgomery County, Maryland.
The name
Kindred means kin.
Ground is the land — and what we hold in common.
A building on a main street is not only an entry on a ledger. It is the ground floor of a neighborhood — where people set up shop, earn a living, and run into each other. The name is the job: treat property as a homeplace, not merely a holding.
What we believe
Buildings belong to places
Property owned well keeps a place whole; owned carelessly, it hollows one out. We hold ourselves to the first kind of ownership — patient, present, and answerable to the block.
Hold long, hold well
We buy to keep. Planned maintenance, fair dealing, and tenants who can plan around their landlord — that is how a building settles into the life of its block instead of churning through it.
An open door is infrastructure
A darkened storefront is a loss that spreads down the block. Keeping ground floors occupied and in good repair is the plain, useful work this company exists to do.
What we will run
Buying the building is the means.
A working kitchen is the point.
Kindred Ground intends to run a commercial kitchen in the Silver Spring commercial corridor, with two jobs:
A paid training cohort
The kitchen staff Kindred Ground will hire anyway — hired into paid positions with a curriculum, a certificate, and honest follow-up after. Employees from day one, learning on the clock.
A shared kitchen, off-peak
The same kitchen's quiet hours — mornings, late nights, slow afternoons — rented at start-up rates to small and immigrant food businesses that need certified space.
Neither program is running yet. Both are what the company is building toward, in writing. The kitchen, in detail →
Plainly stated
Kindred Ground is a for-profit holding company. Not a broker, not a lender, not a nonprofit — an owner, formed to acquire commercial property in Montgomery County, Maryland and to hold it responsibly for the long term.
